Homes for Rent in our Bay Ridge Vacation Rentals
Each of our Bay Ridge condos and homes has brilliant views of the lake, river, or bay, and many of the homes are located on a body of water so you have private access to the waterway and a long dock for crabbing. The Chesapeake Bay area is known for crabbing, and being able to catch fresh crab for you and your family will really be a unique experience for your vacation. Most of our homes come equipped with all the crabbing gear you need, so drop your crab pot off the edge of your dock and bring up a freshly caught crab feast for dinner.
When you’re at your home you’ll want to enjoy the gorgeous views of the water. All of our Bay Ridge rentals have large outdoor spaces with comfortable outdoor furniture, Adirondack chairs, and large dining tables. You can enjoy your crab dinner out on the water while you watch the sunset or curl up in a comfortable chair and read a book while you listen to birds on the water and watch boats go by. Many of our homes also have private in-ground pools.
Fun Around Bay Ridge
While you may be tempted to relax at your home all weekend, Annapolis is a city with a rich history and plenty of attractions to see. The U.S. Naval Academy is one of the main attractions in Annapolis. The school has been training officers for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps since it was established in 1845. The visitors’ center offers daily tours of the academy so you can learn about the school’s rich history.
The Banneker-Douglass Museum is another popular attraction in Annapolis. It is the official African American Heritage Museum in the state of Maryland and has an exhibit on Frederick Douglass’ speeches against racism and slavery as well as exhibits on the history of African Americans in Maryland.
More Fun in the Area
You don’t have to stick close to Bay Ridge vacation rentals to have a great time during your Annapolis visit; there’s so much to do and see everywhere you turn! The city was formed over 100 years before our nation’s independence, and the history is apparent nearly everywhere you look. Cobblestone streets in many areas offer a peek into the past to a time when the clip clopping of horses’ hooves were the only “vehicles” that roamed the area, and brick sidewalks make picturesque paths to follow, leading the way past charming homes filled with history. The historic downtown area is a shopping mecca, offering the opportunity to pick up unique gifts and memorabilia, and because many of the boutiques and shops are housed inside buildings that are centuries old, if you listen closely you may still hear the whispers of those who lived, laughed, and loved insides these same structures! The US Naval Academy, formed in 1845 under the rule of George Bancroft, does more than just train young men and women to become seasoned officers; it’s a place of beauty and offers a history that is important to the forming of our nation. The tours offered give visitors a look at what once was, what is, and what will be.
As with any vacation, your journey to Annapolis will be more than just sightseeing, outdoor activities and resting in our Maryland vacation house rentals; it’s about the tastes of the town! Enjoy crab cakes by the bay on a sunny summer day (The Boatyard Bar & Grill, 400 4th Street comes to mind) or a bowl of rich and creamy clam chowder by the fire in a tavern housed in a building that may have been the place where our forefathers enjoyed a mug of ale and a hearty stew. The restaurants in the area are a sophisticated blend of the modern, the historic, and the simple places whose owners only goals is to feed family and friends. Being a military town, you can be sure that many restaurants offer hearty yet inexpensive meals that fill stomachs without bankrupting wallets. Grump’s Café at 117 Hillsmere Drive is a local favorite serving simple meals designed to please. Whether it’s fine dining at Cantler’s Riverside Inn, Taco Tuesdays at Vida Taco Bar, or breakfasts at the Iron Rooster, every meal is created to ensure your Annapolis visit is an epicurean adventure that will live on in your dreams for years to come!
