Arts and Culture Journey to Annapolis

There are as many different types of vacationers as there are different types of people, and while one vacation may work perfectly well for one family, that same vacation could be considered a letdown to another! Everyone has to walk their own path, and when your journey celebrates arts and culture, a visit to one of these Annapolis art festivals and a stay in one of our At Home Annapolis exclusive properties should be moved to the very top of your bucket list!

Day 1: Travel and Discovery

Your first day will be one filled with the stresses of travel, so why not end it with crab cakes at the Boatyard Bar & Grill, followed by a walk to the bay? The moonlight creates a magical ambience as empty sailboats bob and sway with the ebb and flow of the tide; grab a bench and sit in quiet reverence as you feel the cares of the day melt away from your soul.

Day 2: Rested and Raring to Go

After a fantastic night’s sleep in our cloud soft beds, it’s time to start exploring all the Annapolis sights to see! Today’s journey involves a walk into the past and a visit to the homes of four very important men: William Paca, Thomas Stone, Samuel Chase, and Charles Carroll. All four were signers of the Declaration of Independence and their homes are available to be toured. They are the William Paca House, Chase-Lloyd House, the Peggy Stewart House, and the Charles Carroll House.

Day 3: Annapolis Art Explorations

Yesterday’s journey was filled with the culture of day’s long gone, but today we’re going to visit the artistic side, starting with the Maryland Federation of Art, the oldest artist-run gallery in all of Maryland. Located at 18 State Circle, the artistic works that hang here are examples of the best Maryland and the US have to offer. Paintings, photography, sculpture—all mediums are on display at the Federation and have been for over 50 years!

Day 4: Romance is in the Air

After two full days of being on the go, you probably want a free day to sleep in and do your own thing, but that doesn’t mean we are going to leave you hanging! Dinner and a show are on the agenda for tonight, starting with a romantic dinner at one of the many exciting Annapolis restaurants, The Point Crab House & Grill, located at 700 Mill Creek Road in nearby Arnold. After dinner, it’s time for the musical explorations of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra; shows and times vary, but no matter what season you visit, you’ll be glad you took this Annapolis art journey!

Day 5: Winter Sweet Treats

The Arts District of Annapolis is located on West Street, bordered on one end by Church Circle and on the other by Westin Annapolis Hotel. It is home to many galleries, theaters, and from November 18th until January 1st, the Chocolate Binge Festival! And since all journeys are made that much sweeter with a dose of chocolate, we are urging our winter visitors to partake in this festival celebrating the magical cocoa bean!

Day 6: Summer Delights

Now, our summer and fall visitors have not been forgotten. On the last full day of your Annapolis art and culture journey, we are sending you to the First Sunday Arts Festival! And if the 6th day of your visit does not fall on a Sunday, or if you aren’t visiting during the first of the month, feel free to switch up your days or schedule a return trip when it is; this is one festival we do not want you to miss! Held on the first Sunday of every month from May through November and offering live music, street performers, delicious food, and streets filled with artists selling their best works, each booth is filled with artistic delights that are designed to impress!

Day 7: All Good Things

Unfortunately, your time in Annapolis has come to an end, but you still have a few hours or so to enjoy the culture of your At Home Annapolis vacation escape! Enjoy a hot cup of coffee on the back deck as the sun rises over the horizon, take a few minutes to read another chapter of the book you’ve been reading in that overstuffed chair by the window, and be sure to take some pictures of you and your traveling partners grinning cheesy grins outside in front of the property. This journey has been an unforgettable one, and these pictures will keep the memories sharp and bright. Reserve your stay with us today!
