Any time you visit Annapolis, you can expect to have a fantastic time, but during a holiday it can be even better. And no, we’re not just talking about Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the New Year; the summer holidays that give us a break from work and responsibilities can be just as fun! Although Labor Day offers mixed emotions, as we are excited about the extra day off but we are reluctant to face the end of summer, this guide to your holiday getaway in Annapolis will ensure you have a blast—especially when you choose to make At Home Annapolis your vacation escape. (Please note: Some Annapolis Labor Day events listed below may be canceled in 2020, due to the pandemic, but at the time of this writing, they are still scheduled to take place.)
The Maryland Renaissance Festival is an Annapolis Labor Day weekend tradition in these parts, offering medieval fun and giant turkey drumsticks to devour. As of this writing, it is still planning on opening August 29th. Located at 1821 Crownsville Road and featuring live performances and delicious foods, ticket prices range from $8 for children to $27 for adults, depending on the day of your visit. This year’s storyline takes place in 1534, the year after King Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, and follows all the drama involved with the birth of their daughter.
Dinner Under the Stars
The timing on this fun event is a little sticky, as they only offer this delicious feast on Wednesdays, but you’re going to want to spend more than a few days in Annapolis, so why not visit the week of Labor Day and try it out on September 9th from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM? Offering live music and a choice of dishes offered by local restaurants, your night of romance and relaxation can be found at the intersection of West and Calvert Street! Reservations are recommended, as less tables are being offered due to the pandemic and can be purchased at www.dinnerunderthestars.org.
