Generally, no matter where you are visiting, there’s always that one time of year that is the absolute best time to be there. It could be winters in Arizona where the temperatures stay right around 60 to 70 degrees, summers in Oregon where the days are so perfectly perfect you never want them to end, or fall in Maine, when the trees are vibrantly alive and so colorful it takes your breath away. These vacations are made that much more special because you’ve chosen the right time of year to visit. But what about Annapolis? Keep reading to discover which are the best times to visit Annapolis!
Summer in Annapolis
Sunny summer days add a luster to a town that never lacks in shine. You’ll see lush landscaping, hear the sounds of laughter of adults and children pealing through the streets, and enjoy the taste of ice cream while relaxing on a bench by Chesapeake Bay. Staying cool with a visit to the Annapolis Maritime Museum, which offers boat tours from its riverfront location, is a popular activity during the dog days of summer. While these are just some of the things that make summer in Annapolis one of our favorite times of the year, the best is still to come!
Fall in Annapolis
As summer’s heat starts to dissipate, the crisp feel of the air, the changing of the leaves, and the taste of pumpkin spice lattes are just some of the things that make us wish that fall could last forever. This is the time for cheering on your favorite college football team at the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, but maybe not the best time to visit. There are always fun things to do in Annapolis!
Winter in Annapolis
Winter in our historic city is an absolutely breathtaking time to visit. As the snow falls gently blanketing our town in white, it’s the perfect time to take a carriage ride through the streets, observing the historic buildings dressed in their holiday finest. Colorful lights twinkle brightly on charming storefronts, boat parades glide over the water impressing everyone with their colorful displays, and hot chocolate is sold by the gallon to hundreds of tourists seeking a sweet treat and a bit of relief from the cold outside. And still, this sparkly time of year isn’t the BEST time to visit.
Spring in Annapolis
At last! After much research and years of living here, we have decided that although there is never a bad time to visit, the best time to explore our city by the bay is in the spring. It’s more than the mild weather and the flowers pushing their way to the surface; springtime is a season of new beginnings and hope. Sailing season starts and the waters are filled with colorful boats, their white sails snapping in the wind. It’s the perfect time to sign up for a sailing lesson for yourself!
