Be a Part of It All
Located close to all the exciting activities that take place during Commissioning Week, our homes are designed to take our guests to new levels of relaxation. These USNA Commissioning Week rentals feature spacious kitchens perfect for baking your graduate’s favorite chocolate chip cookies and large dining areas that will fit everyone in your family, including younger siblings who may be contemplating their own entrance into the Navy. The living areas are warm and welcoming, filled with plush furnishings that make long conversations about the next big steps in your child’s life easy and comfortable.
As you retreat to the master suite on each night of your stay, the serene and tranquil décor creates a space where sleep is deep and restful—no tossing and turning the night away in these premium beds! In many of our homes, a full laundry room comes standard, allowing guests to pack light and save room for souvenirs and mementos of their monumental stay in Annapolis. Other amenities may include outdoor dining areas, Chesapeake Bay views, or even a library stocked with books to be enjoyed by guests. Every detail in every home is designed to give our guests a vacation experience they will never forget, and the examples we have listed are just a few of the many more you will encounter during your stay.
In Your Spare Few Minutes
Obviously your visit during Commissioning Week will be chock-full of graduation and naval related activities, but if you get the chance, a walk around Chesapeake Bay (temperatures in the 70s make your May visit the perfect time to be outside), a breakfast at Miss Shirley’s Café, or crab cakes at the Boatyard Grill are a few Annapolis experiences you won’t want to miss! If you happen to have more than a few minutes free, we urge you to explore our city to the fullest. Book one of our amazing Commissioning Week home rentals!
Take some time to smell the roses at the Helen Avalynne Tawes Garden, located at 580 Taylor Avenue. Our state’s former first lady was known throughout the country for her vibrantly green thumb, and we’ve continued the tradition she began on over 5 acres of landscape that’s a part of the Department of Natural Resources. Offering benches to sit on as you meander along the trails filled with pretty much all variations of flora that are local to the area, this walk isn’t meant to be rushed through; the gardens deserve to have all the attention you can give them!
Shopping is a favored activity by Annapolis vacationers, and as with every place you visit, there are areas of town that are better than others. More specifically in our case, every shopper’s dream comes true on Maryland Avenue, between State House Circle and Prince George Street. Offering a selection of galleries, boutiques, and shops that contain fine examples of Maryland craftsmanship, you probably won’t find a souvenir tee shirt here, but we promise the gifts you do find will be much appreciated by those who weren’t able to accompany you on your Commissioning Week getaway!
Ravenous Travelers Eat Well in Annapolis
There are some cities or towns that you visit and leave feeling hungry and disappointed, but Annapolis is not one of them. We love to feed hungry visitors and offer many dining choices guaranteed to make everyone happy!
For a casually elegant night on the town, Level, a small plates lounge at 69 West Street, offers uniquely delicious tapas that will make every appetite happy! Dishes like grilled octopus, Nashville Hot Chicken, and even a chorizo dip are examples of how an imaginative chef can make an ordinary dish become extraordinary, and with homemade cookies and farm fresh milk on the dessert menu, your childhood comes back to life with a sophisticated vengeance!
Flamant, located at 17 Annapolis Street, is a hidden gem that we can’t help but whisper gleefully about to our guests. Housed in a charming cottage that is decorated with a sleekly modern vibe, the menu is filled with items made from simple ingredients. The duck burger is our current flavor of the day, created with grilled green tomatoes, arugula, an orange-blue cheese sauce and served with Belgian fries; an Apricot Donut off the dessert menu finishes this savory dish off quite nicely!
